    From 1978 - 1980 several of the key personnel of Atkins & Stang Inc. entered the electrical industry receiving high quality, professional training with some of the best electrical contractors of that time.  Today, these core personnel each have over 20 to 25 years electrical industry experience rooted in practical field applications and defined by their history of delivering excellent electrical and telecommunication installations.

Atkins & Stang Inc. was formed in 1984 by Fred Stang , who today as President of the company, remains deeply involved in the day-to-day operations of the organization.  Initially Atkins and Stang's development was fueled by commercial tenant remodel and build out. Through their success in this area, they began adding the tools and equipment necessary to grow the business into other markets.  Their humble beginnings gave them a sincere appreciation for each of their customers’ projects.  They truly understand the importance of each capital investment and the desire to obtain the best value for the dollar.  They respect the decision making process that each of their customers make when spending construction dollars. 

Atkins & Stang Inc. has grown their business through hard work and has a solid reputation for providing quality electrical installations.  In addition to this they have reinvested wisely in their support structure. They have a 6000 square foot office complemented by a 22000 square foot warehouse and vehicle maintenance structure.  Their recently updated office area is optimized for communication amongst project managers, support staff and clientele.  Their office includes the latest software available for optimum project management and document control.  Their office equipment includes a CAD system, plotter and engineering copier which allow them to effectively communicate with their customers and share pertinent information.

 They also believe in maintaining the necessary inventory, tools and equipment required for a professional electrical installation and prompt customer service.  An example of this is their commitment to the tools and equipment necessary to perform quality site work.  They currently own an impressive fleet of service trucks, bucket and line trucks, dump trucks, and excavation equipment.  The equipment and all necessary tooling is kept in excellent working condition and down time is kept to a minimum by their full time on staff mechanic.  This commitment to their company increases overall productivity, job satisfaction and pride in their work while delivering savings to their customers.

Although Atkins & Stang Inc. runs a lean organization, they have clearly demonstrated the ability to successfully manage electrical projects with values in the range of 3 to 4 million dollars. While they still consider themselves a young company, they have accumulated a high average tenure within the organization.  Atkins & Stang Inc. has done an excellent job of retaining its personnel by offering a competitive wage and benefits package.  Their ability to keep good personnel assures continuity in the workforce and allows them to provide the right mix of qualified personnel on the job.  When their customer requests additional work, Atkins & Stang Inc. makes every effort to return the personnel that will be most familiar with the customers’ facility and therefore the most productive. They do their best to minimize any potential disturbances to the customers’ workplace and maintain a high standard for the work that is performed.

Atkins & Stang Inc. invests in its personnel by providing excellent training through the Independent Electrical Contractors apprenticeship program.  This is a federally approved four year training program.  Atkins & Stang Inc. also provides on- going or continuous training at its own facility.  They believe in sending their customers the most qualified electricians, knowledgeable of the latest industry trends and innovations.

Atkins & Stang Inc. has also made a strong commitment to its safety program with a dedicated safety manager.  Their program includes pre-employment instruction, 10 hours of OSHA awareness training and 30 hours of ongoing training.  They participate in the Drug Free Workplace, Allied Construction Industries safety committee, Tri-State Dialogue and have received the Grand Achievement Award from IEC National Safety Program.  All of their efforts strive towards keeping the workplace safe and reducing the exposure to harm for everyone associated with their projects.

         Atkins & Stang Inc. aggressively branched into the telecommunication and data networking market by adding employees with extensive knowledge and experience in the voice/data networking field. They feature an on staff RCDD’s and all key telecom personnel are BICSI certified.  They believe their customers should only have to one stop shop for all their electrical needs including voice & data (LAN & WAN), fiber optic, high speed copper, coaxial and technology systems.  They offer complete system design and CAD support.  Atkins & Stang Inc. Telecommunication division would be pleased to assist their clients with all of their equipment moves, relocations, renovations, technology upgrades and new installations.
